There have definitely been some changes to the normal routine … wait, North Texans haven’t had a normal routine since the pandemic messed things up a year ago.
But thanks to the addition of this week’s blizzard tagged “snovid” in honor of the merger of COVID-19 and the polar vortex, even pandemic routines are requiring adjustments, including the following:
- Many towns have had their water supplies compromised due to water main breaks. Please check with your community’s website to see if you need to boil your water for drinking, cooking or even brushing your teeth.
- The City of Dallas is suspending garbage and recycling collections until Monday, February 22.
- Gasoline stations are still waiting for new arrivals of fuel. But then you weren’t really thinking of going out.
- Before venturing out to pick up supplies (i.e, food, prescriptions, etc.), call your destination to make sure they’re open.
- As it is, grocery store shelves are as slim as a zipper. If you must shop, don’t be disappointed if you find the shelves bare.
- If you have an appointment for anything, call first. They may not be in operation due to staffing shortages or property damage.
- The Dallas Morning News is having issues (no pun intended) delivering papers. If you haven’t received one in the past couple of days, not to worry. When things warm up, they’re gonna give you all your back copies. Same goes for the delivery of mail.
Despite suffering from a case of cabin fever, please rethink the idea of getting in your car to see the sights or run an errand. It might be life-changing and not a good one.
